Things 3 Pricing in 2026: What You Pay Once and What You Pay Again

Things 3 costs $9.99 for iPhone, $19.99 for iPad and $49.99 for Mac. You pay once per app. There is no subscription, and sync through Things Cloud is free. The catch is in the plural: each Apple device type is a separate app with its own price, so iPhone, iPad and Mac together come to $79.97.

Prices checked on 5 November 2026 on the US App Store. Cultured Code sets its prices in US dollars and Apple converts them for each country, so what you see locally will differ and can move with exchange rates.

Price per device

AppUS App Store price
Things 3 for iPhone$9.99
Things 3 for iPad$19.99
Things 3 for Mac$49.99
Things 3 for Vision (Apple Vision Pro)$29.99
Apple Watch appFree with the iPhone version

The iPhone and iPad versions are separate apps, and buying one doesn't give you the other. The Mac version costs five times the iPhone version, so "Things" isn't one price.

Some price comparison sites list a monthly plan for Things. Things has no subscription. Cultured Code's own wording is "an up-front, one-time purchase," and the iPhone and Vision listings show no in-app purchases.

What your setup actually costs

Straight sums of the prices above, before tax:

DevicesTotal (US $)
iPhone only (Apple Watch included)$9.99
iPhone + iPad$29.98
iPhone + Mac$59.98
iPhone + iPad + Mac$79.97
iPhone + iPad + Mac + Vision$109.96

If you live on your iPhone, Things costs ten dollars, once. If you plan your week on a Mac and check things off on your phone, it's about sixty. The full Apple set is under eighty.

Trial, Family Sharing, discounts, refunds

  • Free trial: only on Mac. Download Things from the Cultured Code website and you get 15 days from first launch. You buy the Mac version itself from the Mac App Store. iPhone, iPad and Vision have no trial, so on mobile you pay before you try.
  • Family Sharing: supported for up to 6 family members, so one purchase can cover a household.
  • Discounts: none. Cultured Code sends students and companies to Apple's education and volume purchase programs instead.
  • Refunds: the sale goes through Apple, so Cultured Code can't issue them. Refund requests go to Apple.

One to three years against TickTick and Todoist

I compared Things with two subscription apps, TickTick and Todoist, using the prices we checked for our TickTick pricing and Todoist pricing posts on 29 September 2026: TickTick Premium at $49.99 a year and Todoist Pro at $5 a month billed yearly, which is $60 a year.

After 1 yearAfter 2 yearsAfter 3 years
Things 3 (iPhone + iPad + Mac)$79.97$79.97$79.97
TickTick Premium$49.99$99.98$149.97
Todoist Pro$60$120$180

In year one the subscriptions are cheaper. By the end of year two, the full Things set has cost less than two years of TickTick Premium. At three years you've paid roughly half of what TickTick costs and under half of Todoist Pro. If you only need the iPhone app, Things is already cheaper than a single year of either subscription.

Two fair notes. TickTick and Todoist both have free plans with no time limit, so neither forces you to subscribe (is TickTick free? covers what you get without paying). And Cultured Code hasn't published anything about the price of a future version, so don't base your decision on rumors either way.

What the price doesn't buy

Things runs on Apple devices only. Windows, Android, Linux and web browsers aren't supported. If your work laptop runs Windows or your phone is a Pixel, the price table above doesn't matter, because there's nothing to buy.

For the money you get reminders, repeating tasks, Calendar integration, Markdown notes, Shortcuts support and Mail to Things. The app is actively maintained: the iPhone and iPad version was updated on 2 November 2026.

Who should buy it

Buy it if everything you own has an Apple logo, you dislike subscriptions, and you expect to use a task app for more than a year or two. For that person Things is hard to beat on cost.

Skip it if any device you use daily isn't an Apple device. Also skip it if you want to try it on iPhone before paying, since there's no trial there.

If you also use Android, Windows or a browser

Vyneron is what we build, so take this section with that in mind. We built it for people whose devices don't all come from Apple, so it won't match Things on design or undercut it on price.

Vyneron runs as a web app in any browser, which covers Windows, Mac and the browser on an iPhone. There's an Android app on Google Play, and you can add tasks from Telegram by text, voice note or photo. WhatsApp (paid plans and the trial) and Slack work too. There's no native iPhone app on the App Store and no Apple Watch app.

It's also a subscription. Solo costs $6 a month or $59 a year. Over three years that's $177, more than double the $79.97 an all-Apple Things setup costs once. The Free plan has no time limit and keeps your tasks, notes and routines. The first 7 days are a trial with no card required.

If you're all-in on Apple, Things is the better deal. If you're not, Things isn't an option, and Vyneron is one to look at.

FAQ

Is Things 3 a subscription?

No. Each app is a one-time purchase on the App Store, and syncing through Things Cloud costs nothing extra. Any monthly price you see for Things on a comparison site is wrong.

Do I have to buy Things 3 separately for iPhone, iPad and Mac?

Yes. Mac, iPad, iPhone and Vision are sold separately. The Apple Watch app is the exception: it comes free with the iPhone version.

How much does Things 3 cost for all my Apple devices?

$79.97 for iPhone, iPad and Mac on the US App Store. Add Vision Pro and it's $109.96. Local prices vary by country.

Is there a free trial of Things 3?

Only on Mac: 15 days from first launch, using the version you download from the Cultured Code website. There's no trial on iPhone, iPad or Vision.

Does Things 3 work on Android or Windows?

No. Things runs only on Apple devices. There's no Android, Windows, Linux or web version.
