A list is great for what to do next. It's not great for seeing how work moves. When you've got a dozen tasks at different stages, a flat list flattens exactly the thing you want to see — what's queued, what's parked, and what's done.
Vyneron now gives you a Kanban board alongside the list: your tasks as columns you can drag between. Same tasks, same filters — a different way to look at them.
TL;DR: Switch from list to Board with one toggle. Your tasks appear in three columns — Pending, On Hold, and Done — and dragging a task to another column changes its status. Toggle back to the list whenever you want.
What the board looks like
Three columns, mapped to a task's real status (so the board and your list always agree):
- Pending — active tasks you're working through.
- On Hold — things you've parked (waiting on someone, not now, blocked).
- Done — recently completed tasks (the last 7 days, so the column stays useful instead of becoming an endless archive).
How to use it
- Toggle to Board. Switch your task view from list to Board — your preference is remembered, so it stays however you left it.
- Drag to change status. Move a task from Pending to On Hold to park it, or to Done to complete it. The drag is the status change — no opening the task, no menus.
- Toggle back anytime. The board and the list are two views of the same tasks with the same filters. Use whichever fits the moment.
Why drag-to-done does more than it looks
Completing a task by dropping it in Done isn't just a status flip. If that task was blocking others, its dependents are released at the same time — they move to Ready now in your Flows view. And if it had subtasks, those are handled too. One drag, and the rest of your workflow updates with it.
Honest limits
- Three status columns, not custom ones. The board reflects task status (Pending / On Hold / Done), not arbitrary custom columns or swimlanes. It's a clear view of where work stands, not a full project-board builder.
- Built for larger screens. The board shines on a wider display; on a phone, the list view stays the default (dragging columns on a small screen isn't the experience you want).
- Done shows the last week. Older completed tasks roll out of the Done column to keep it readable — they're still in your history.
When to reach for the board vs the list
- List — when you just want the next thing to do, or you're capturing fast.
- Board — when you're reviewing everything in flight, parking and unparking tasks, or clearing a batch and want to see progress as you go.
The Kanban board is part of a larger June update — see What's New in Vyneron for everything that shipped, or pair the board with task dependencies so finishing one task automatically frees the next. Try it free.
